  1. None functional shower and bath
What could have been a great stay was marred by a none functional shower and bath. For various reasons I was unable to raise this with the owner until the Thursday of my stay. He informed me that he was already aware of the problem but did not consider it something we needed to be notified of in advance. He told me he had a new part on order but it had yet to arrive.
On returning home I contacted Sykes who were very supportive, but the owner took the fact that I was not in touch until Thursday as grounds that it could not have been a big problem and that he felt no need to compensate me. On one of the hottest weeks of the year, it was a problem! Obviously this issue will be resolved at some point, but it is indicative of the owner’s opinion of his obligations, if a new problem arrises do not expect to be warned or compensated.
